There is no "Move to sent"! So how do you get it back to Sent folder? I haven't tried drag and dropping it in place. But you won't be able to return back to where you found it! Because remember, the option is "Move to inbox". Now if you apply the steps from the example above to an e-mail in your Sent folder, it will disappear and you will be able to find it in "All mail" the same way. Now here's the kicker! If you have read this post this far, then you know you can select e-mails not only in Inbox but also in the Sent folder, and have them sent to "Archive" too. say 10 or 50 e-mails you once have marked as "Archive" and now want to undo that or you simply want to review what's in this "Archive" box. It will be moved back to Inbox, so when you click on Inbox next time (now you're viewing "All mail"), you will be able to see it there. Once you have found it, you can right click on it, and select "Move to inbox". Unless you don't mind eyeballing though a long list of "all mail" to locate that one e-mail that's God knows where in the list. So you have to know something about it beforehand, so you can do a search for it. There is no filtering option for locating and displaying only those e-mails marked as "Archive". Now you have to locate the e-mail that you have set as "Archive". To undo this, you have to go to the navigation menu on the left (I am assuming you are using Gmail on your computer), locate the "More" section, click on it, and then click on "All mail" (unless you have changed your settings so you don't have to click on "More" to display "All mail", but then you know what I'm talking about). That's the effect of it, that's what "Archive" does, not what it is. how do you send or set these as "Archvie"? When you are not presented with the option to do so?.Īs an example, let's say you select one of your e-mails in Inbox, and you set it as "Archive". they have no business being sent to Inbox. So these e-mails, that are in the Sent folder. When I check their details I can clearly see that my Gmail address is rightfully inserted in the "From:" field and this checks out with the "To:" prefix where the recipients e-mail address or name is indicated. What the hell for? Their subject lines are clearly prefixed with "To:" so I know for sure they are e-mail I have sent and not e-mails I have received. But not all of them! You see some of the e-mails in the Sent folder don't have that option in the context menu when you right click on them, for they have "Move to inbox" in its stead. But what is Archive? Where is Archive? Is it a state or attribute of the e-mail that's been set as "Archive"? Or is it a place you can find in the navigation menu?īy contrast, most e-mails in the Sent folder (it's technically a "system label", not a folder) can be set to "Archive". As far as my eyes can see, all e-mails in Inbox can be set to or sent to "Archive".
